2012 Theme: “That they may set their hope in God…” – Psalm 78:7

"That they may set their hope in God..." - Psalm 78:7

In 2011, our Write2Ignite! Conference emphasized JOY to the writers and illustrators who attended. In 2012 we want to center our Conference presentations and inspirations on HOPE.

We believe God has entrusted us Christian writers with His message of HOPE not only so that we can handle our own lives with HOPE instead of despair, but also so that we can give HOPE to our readers – the generation to come.

As we Christian writers tell our tales, deliver our messages, share our fun ideas, relay our facts or illustrate our stories we can do so with an undergirding of HOPE. Even if the story we tell is tragic. Even if the characters we create, or the historical figures and events we relay are in hopeless situations, we can build our books and articles on a foundation of HOPE. We have the ability to manipulate our manuscripts to echo REDEMPTION and HOPE.

  • We can give our readers HOPE in spite of great evil.
  • We can weave a thread of HOPE throughout our stories of pain and sorrow.
  • We can discuss contemporary situations, issues and events demonstrating that we have HOPE for our futures because we have HOPE in Christ.

Psalm 78: 1- 7 reassures of that those of us who trust in God always have HOPE. In verse 7 the HCSB translates the word hope as confidence.  These verses give us writers the charge to pass along the stories of HOPE, the stories of God, to future generations so that they might have CONFIDENCE in our living God.

Isn’t that where HOPE comes from? CONFIDENCE that we can entrust someone – GOD – with our today and with our tomorrows.

Our children and grandchildren have an abundance of “stuff” in their lives. Yet, fear, anxiety and hopelessness are rampant. It isn’t “stuff” that gives us HOPE, dear writers. It isn’t “success” that builds CONFIDENCE  into our children’s lives. It is a faith-filled CONFIDENCE in the Lord Jesus that gives them (and every generation) HOPE for their today, and HOPE for their all of their tomorrows.

So, let’s write with HOPE. Let’s build our stories, our devotions, our songs, our scripts, our non-fiction books on REDEMPTION in Christ, our HOPE, so that we might ignite the flame of HOPE in the generations to come.

I sure HOPE you plan to join us at Write2Ignite! 2012.

  1. Jean Hall says:

On Oct. 16 Lola sent me a message that said:

I am a children’s author because I love creating a world where children can be happy and safe and carefree. I want to create a place where they can chase their dreams until they catch them…a place where they can run and play and feel free to be who they are. Through the words I write for them, I hope children will know that they are very special people and that they have the right to be a child for as long as they want.

    THANKS, LOLA.

  2. I am honored to be a part of this group. Hope never goes out of style. Thank you, Jean for this…

  4. What a privilege to be a part of this conference. The theme is wonderful too. Where would we be without our hope in the Lord Jesus Christ? Thanks, Jean!
