Sally Matheny

Encouraging others is Sally Matheny’s mission in life. She enjoys “reflecting on ordinary life under God’s extraordinary Light.”

A member of SCBWI and ACW, her articles have appeared in children’s magazines such as Focus on the Family’s Clubhouse Jr., Cobblestone’s Appleseeds, and in the international devotional Keys for Kids.  Also writing articles for parents, Sally’s writing is in publications such as Practical Homeschooling, The Greenhouse Report, and Homeschooling Today, as well as in several on-line publications.

One of Sally’s most difficult, yet most rewarding projects was writing an evangelism VBS curriculum, Who is Jesus?, which missionaries use to introduce Christ to children.

Although she once said she’d never marry a preacher, she has found great delight in assisting her bi-vocational pastor-husband in his ministry. Married for twenty-five years, they make their home in western North Carolina.  Their greatest blessings are their two daughters and one son. Life is crazy but fun with a flock of chickens, three beagles, two horses, and a not-so-miniature pig.

Sally also said she’d never homeschool. A former public school teacher, with a M. Ed., she is has homeschooled for over fifteen years and loves it.  Sally is learning not to say what she’ll never do.

However, she does enjoy her coffee strong, her chocolate dark, and her blueberries fresh-picked.

Jan Prahl

I am the smiling face in charge of book sales at the Conference.

I am married to Craig, and we have six children and 3 granddaughters (and 2 grandsons due January 2015).
I’ve always been active in our local church, usually working with children. Over the last 31 years, I’ve held about every children’s ministry position possible from working in the Nursery to  Children’s Director  and all positions in between. Passing our faith  to the next generation is a large part of why I homeschool my children and why I am involved with Write2Ignite!.  To date, writing has been for personal therapy and encouragement of others.  When I blog, my thoughts can be found at writingunderthemapleleaves.blogspot.com

Hey, guys! I’m Benjamin Steward! I am sixteen, I’m in the tenth grade, and I’m homeschooled.
Writing has always been a hobby of mine, English class, creative writing, and working on my own to create a story.
I run the technical side of the teen leadership. I run the website, and with the help of my cohorts, Kaiti, Alec, Lillie and John, I set up most of our teen social media. I can’t wait for our 2015 conference!

Hey guys! Im Alec steward, first things first, I’m totally awesome. I am also a Christian, a writer, an artist, a unicorn, and any other thing I want to be. (I’m not actually a unicorn, don’t tell.) I also happen to be homeschooled. I have graced this world with sixteen wonderful years of my existence with my twin brother Benjamin. I was on the “teen team” for write2ignite last year, some of you might know me, if not, that’s to bad for you because I’m totally awesome.
(And humble) I have been writing for years now, everything from poetry to narrative, short stories to an actual book. (Sort of a book) I loved write2ignite last year and I hope I can help make it even better this year.
Can wait to see you there
-The cooler, more attractive Twin, Alec M. Steward
