At Write2Ignite, one of our goals is to encourage you to write quality material for children and teens. As you pursue that goal there will be many opportunities to brag.
Got a brag? Lay it on me!
Here are a few questions to get your brag on. We want to share your brag on our social media sites. Currently that is Facebook and Twitter, but other social media may follow.
- How often do you write?
- Are you published? If yes, where and book/ article title please.
- Do you blog?
- If yes, what is your blog address?
- Do you have writing victories? (manuscript going to editor, signing with an agent, book /article publication, book signing, etc)
- May we share them on our social media pages?
- May we link to your successes?
- Did you take any photos at any Write2Ignite conference you attended?

That’s a lot of questions! I don’t like to brag at all. However, I love to encourage others, especially Christian creatives, so I’ll share a little here.
My name is Sally Matheny. I try to write every day. I reflect on ordinary life under His extraordinary Light at http://www.SallyMatheny.blogspot.com. My focus there is Christian living and spiritual stretching, especially for parents. Also included are faith-based book and movie reviews, interviews, and giveaways.
My published work, in children’s magazines, is usually nonfiction and varies in topics from amazing animals and places to intriguing people and events.
In addition to the blog, I enjoy connecting with others on twitter, LinkedIn, facebook, and Pinterest. And of course, writers’ conferences!

Get Your Brag On
• I’m not big on bragging, but as somebody said, “It is a mighty poor frog who won’t croak in his own pond.” My writing is purposed to represent Jesus the Christ to both saved and lost teens.
How often do you write? Nearly every day with a goal of 1,000 to 1,200 words/day.
• Are you published? If yes, where and book/ article title please. Stranded at Romson’s Lodge Morgan James Publishing May ’16.
• Do you blog? I have not to this point, but I am considering it in the near future.
• If yes, what is your blog address? http://www.jlcallison.com
• Do you have writing victories? (manuscript going to editor, signing with an agent, book /article publication, book signing, etc) My second novel, a mid-grade mystery was recently returned by a publisher with some changes to be made prior to publishing.
• May we share them on our social media pages? Yes
• May we link to your successes? Yes, please.
• Did you take any photos at any Write2Ignite conference you attended? I have not yet attended a Write2Ignite conference. Last spring’s was cancelled. I hope to be able to participate in the next one.
• What is the last book you read? (children’s literature or other) I beta-read a non-Christian mystery novel for a fellow author, Dead Man’s Code by Randy Weir. Prior to that, I reread Jan Karon’s At Home in Mitford.
• Do you have a favorite children’s book? Picking one favorite children’s book would be very difficult. I think I would have to go with two series that were very influential in my life as a child/teen. The Sugar Creek Gang series and the Danny Orlis series. I was glued to the radio to hear them on Saturday mornings, and I read every one I could get my hands on multiple times.
How serious are you about your writing? 1. God gave me the opportunity after many years to fulfill a dream of being a writer. Because it is a gift of an opportunity, I believe it is my responsibility now to write to the best of my ability.
