Each new obstacle Pilgrim overcomes adds a chapter to the story he can tell to those he meets. Challenges, especially in areas where cresting rivers and floods are barriers, lead to stories as residents and helpers work to clear away debris, repair damage to roads and buildings, and deal with losses. In the process, God’s promise to comfort those who mourn brings a vision of restoration: “To give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” (Isaiah 61:3, NKJV)

In communities where downed trees and heavy spirits make joy seem impossible, God is planting in the lives of people who follow Him, to make them as majestic and upright as the most beautiful trees standing. The journey—and the story—continue.
