Writing Contests and Publication Opportunities: Deadlines and Reminders!
Below are three fast-approaching deadlines (two occur on June 30, 2018) that W2I has announced before. In case you’ve put these deadlines on your “maybe” list, take today to see what you can do with these opportunities. If you participate, consider each of your entries not as “success-or-failure” but as a personal accomplishment and a learning opportunity.
- Deadline A—June 30, 2018. Through June 30, 2018, agent Cyle Young is offering an open submission period: he’s accepting submissions for “the general and Christian markets, both nonfiction and fiction.” Send your submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Deadline B—June 30, 2018. The Owl Canyon Press Short Story Hackathon is a slightly longer variation of flash fiction. “Hackathon” is a 50-paragraph story contest in which the first and last paragraphs are already provided and each contest entrant supplies the other 48. Owl Canyon Press is the contest sponsor. The contest offers a cash award and publication. You can find more details here.
- Deadline C—August 20, 2018. The deadline for the “Faith and Freedom” writing contest cosponsored by EA Books Publishing and Write2Ignite is coming up fast! The contest is open only to those attending W2I 2018, and it’s limited to unpublished authors. (“Unpublished” is defined as follows: the writer can have articles, blogs, or online content published, either paid or unpaid, but cannot have a traditionally published book or inclusion in another published anthology.) Benefits: there’s no extra fee to enter (conference registration and attendance qualify you), a wide range of genres is accepted, both Teen Track and adult attendees may apply, and winners will be published in an EA Books anthology. See full details here.
