Do you have a box or two of your published book that you would LOVE to turn into a little cash?
Jean Kristi & Jill Mistletoe Madness 2011
Have you thought of joining the thousands of folks who sell their crafts, goodies and stuff at craft fairs? Ask around or Google for craft shows and fairs in your area. Rent a booth and set up shop. It’s loads of fun and can be profitable, especially in the fall.
I’m betting you’ll find quite a few Christmas Craft Shows occurring over the next few months. Dive in! You may find a lot of success offering your books singly or tied up with bows in packages as Christmas gifts. You’ll meet some really interesting people and have a lot of fun.
Here are some tips:
Some shows furnish tables & chairs, some don’t, so be sure to ask
Use a bright, colorful table cloth 9 feet long (many tables are 8 feet long)
Jump on the Christmas theme and decorate your area with holly or bows or mistletoe
Prepare to autograph your books. Have a fine-point, black pen handy
Offer gift sets if you have more than one title
Display your price list prominently
Have business cards available - place a card or a book marker in each book
Offer something sweet like small candies for free
Shop around – buy something from other vendors
Dress comfortably (check not only the weather but the climate inside the facility)
Wear your friendliest smile
Listen – be genuinely interested and helpful to others
Have fun!
If you’ve found a niche market for your books (like craft shows) how about sharing your idea with us, please. We’re all trying to get our books into the hands of readers and we can surely help each other out by sharing our successes.
Thanks for dropping in, Kim.
Ahhh…one day.
