The Write2Ignite Podcast: Ep. 5: Lori Z. Scott

Introducing…

When Lori Z. Scott won the Christy Award in the Young Adult category, she hadn’t prepared a speech. She never thought she would win, and she almost didn’t go to the ceremony. But this wasn’t unusual, because Lori Z. Scott never wanted to write Offsides in the first place. When it was suggested that she use the soccer themed book to tackle human trafficking, Lori rejected the idea. But soon, the suggestion became more of a mandate from God. Lori was left with no choice—she had to write Offsides.

The Podcast

What happened next, left her forever changed. You can listen to the whole conversation here, or on Spotify, Apple, or Amazon Music. I have to warn you, this is a heavy episode. Little ears may want to steer clear. However, for the writer, Lori offers priceless advice and tips on how to handle tough subjects, when to include God in your plans, and what kind of feedback from readers is the best.

  1. This subject makes it into my prayers almost daily, especiallly as it relates to children. My heart just breaks to the point of grieving for the plight of these little ones. I believe that human trafficking is one of the darkest evils we face in our country and I also believe it keeps our country separated from God. Thank you for tackling such a difficult topic and shining light where it’s most needed. I will definitely be buying a book. Bless you for fighting the battle and creating awareness.

  2. Loved this interview! When God calls you to write, it is easy to get sidetracked by discouragement if it doesn’t seem productive or reap the results you desire. Obedience is the key. Loved hearing how Lori has surrendered her writing to the Lord’s leading. Her vulnerability and honesty is refreshing.
