I have a background in education and have worked with young people in schools, camps, and church. My writing experience includes newspaper work, magazine articles, curriculum writing, and novel writing. I have taught writing at Highlights Foundation and North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching. I am the author of 7 novels of historical fiction. Five of them make up a series, known as Bakers Mountain Stories, set in the Hickory, NC area during the 1940’s, 50’s, and 60’s. My books are used widely in North Carolina schools. I also speak in schools about my books.
