Know, Grow, and Go
Honest. Encouraging. Relatable. These are only a few of the words I would use to describe Tama Fortner’s Know, Grow, and Go 90 Devotions on Gospel Transformation for Kids. I wish this book existed when my son was in elementary school.
Filled with wisdom, truth, and God’s word in a relatable, meaningful way, these 90 devotions cover biblical truths from Genesis—Looking and Loving Like God, to Revelation—Jesus is Coming…but When?
The tone of the book is conversational. Never condescending or preachy. The questions the author asks go below the surface to genuine reflection based on the biblical passage covered.
Each devotion uses true to life scenarios, along with examples from the Bible to help the reader know God, grow in their faith, and then go share their faith.
The devotions have the following five sections.
Read All About It
In this section, readers find the exact chapters and verses in the Bible to dig deeper into God’s Word.
Talk About It
Here the reader finds conversation starters to use during family devotion time. These questions help the reader apply what they are learning from the devotions to their life.
Pray About It
This section contains a prayer to help readers connect with God.
Let’s Do This
If I had to choose one section I feel drives home the devotion best, it is this section. Here the reader applies God’s Word to their life and situations. It might be a simple activity or a question to challenge the way the reader thinks about God.
Go Bigger
The last section has activities that take a little more time and offer another opportunity for the reader to put their faith into action.
Highly Recommend
I highly recommend this book for family time devotions, as well as for individual study. The reader can revisit the devotions and action steps in this book to measure how they are progressing in becoming more Christ-like.
